Dell XPS M1730 PC Mag Review
Call it star alignment. Call it great timing. When Intel launched its mobile Extreme processor to coincide with nVidia's introduction of its mobile SLI GeForce 8700M GT graphics chipset, the stage was set for Dell to bring forth something sublime and mind-blowing. If there was ever a gaming laptop that will inspire its competition to do the same, it's the Dell XPS M1730.
Dell XPS M1730 Digital Trends Review
Dell’s XPS 1730 is the company’s flagship gaming notebook, and is available in several configurations. Dell has sent us the “lottery winner” configuration, which has every high-end part, feature, and doodad imaginable. With its Intel Penryn CPU (that’s overclockable), two NVIDIA 8800M GTX cards in SLI and loads of bling, the M1730 has every next-gen part available and is tricked out with lights like no notebook we’ve ever seen before. Some might say the M1730 is a bit over the top, but we love its audacious styling and find little to fault in Dell’s high-end laptop.
Dell XPS M1730 CNET Review
The latest revision to Dell's flagship line, the massive XPS M1730 features a redesigned case that combines familiar touches, such as flashing LEDs beneath the speaker grills, with newer elements, such as the integrated Logitech GamePanel LCD and 10-key numeric keypad. But, as with any gaming-oriented system, the most important features are inside the case. Like its predecessors, the XPS M1730 offers the highest-end components available--in the case of our review unit, a top-of-the-line Intel Core 2 Extreme processor, Nvidia SLI graphics, the first mobile PhysX processor, and two massive 7,200rpm hard drives.
Dell XPS 630 PC Mag Review
The Dell XPS 630 represents Dell's entry into the sub-$1,500 gaming PC space. Not everyone needs a $5,000+ gaming box, especially if you just want to play the games and don't care much about frame rates. You won't be raving about the Dell's blazing performance at 1,920-by-1,200 resolution, but you will be able to say, "I can play Crysis." The unit can also be fitted later with either ATI CrossFire or nVidia SLI dual-card systems, so this is a gaming box that you'll be able to upgrade it your heart's desire. It's a smidge more expensive than its direct competition, but that extra $170 is totally worth it.
Dell XPS 630 CNET Review
We have a feeling that Dell is going to sell a lot of XPS 630 systems. This new midrange desktop brings over many of the features we like about Dell's XPS 720, but in a more manageable size. The price starts at $1,249 at launch, and for that you get the sleek angled case, a well-organized interior, a quad-core CPU, and a fast 3D graphics card. Bump the price to $1,619 and you get our review system, which includes a second graphics card for even better gaming power. Compared to other systems in its class, the XPS 630 did very well on our benchmarks, which sealed the deal for us. This system was built for strong gaming bang-for-the-buck, and Dell most definitely achieved that goal, making this system an Editors' Choice winner.
